MpcStar is a program that can play audio or video files. It supports all popular file extensions like .avi, .mp4, .mpeg, .flv, .mkv, .divx, .mov, and many others.
The application provides two integrated tools: MpcStar for watching video files and Comet Player for playing audio files.

If you want to see a movie, you simply select the desired file. The program also helps you create a playlist for quick access to videos you intend to watch. What's more, you have the ability to adjust video, audio, and subtitle settings. Under the video settings tab, you can modify the contrast, the brightness, the saturation, the hue, or the gamma level. The audio settings option lets you select the speaker type, the audio channel, or the language. The subtitle function gives you the opportunity to load a subtitle, to download it from the Internet, to set its position on screen, or to resync it.

The second tool, Comet Player, also comes with useful options. It has a nicely-structured interface with a main window that displays the player, the playlist, the equalizer, and the lyrics. It gives you the possibility to view some information about the playing file, such as the title, artist, album, genre, codec, size, length, and so on. The equalizer lets you modify the number of decibels or boost the bass.

All in all, this is a good working program that you may find useful when you intend to watch movies or listen to music and your player doesn’t recognize the formats. In my opinion, the only thing that it lacks is an ability to edit or to add effects to audio or video files.

When installing my AV notified me of a threat, an adware, nothing that poses any serious danger, but beware.
